About Ajay S. Thakkar

     As the son of East Indian immigrants, Mr. Thakkar has first hand personal experience with the immigration process.  He knows how confusing and difficult it is to navigate United States immigration laws.  Through 25 years of practicing United States Immigration and Nationality Law, Mr. Thakkar has dealt with a wide variety of individual immigration cases in many different jurisdictions.  He has represented both public and private companies, as well as individuals from all over the world.  Mr. Thakkar provides legal counsel to businesses regarding Form I-9 compliance and other employment immigration personnel matters.  He has extensive experience with non-immigrant and immigrant visa applications.  Mr. Thakkar has assisted hundreds of individuals in obtaining permanent residence via a family relationship many who required a waiver application.  He has handled hundreds of citizenship applications including those involving criminal law crossover issues.  Special emphasis in his legal practice is placed on resolving complex cases of immigration law and procedure, including those in Immigration Court.
     In addition to being a practicing attorney, Mr. Thakkar is currently an Adjunct Professor in the Legal Studies Department at Brandman University which is part of the Chapman University System.  He is a guest lecturer on Immigration Law and the American Legal System at several Community Colleges.   
     Mr. Thakkar graduated “With Distinction” from the University of California San Diego in June 1990 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science.  While attending the University of California San Diego, Mr. Thakkar attained membership in the Golden Key National Honor Society.  In May 1994, Mr. Thakkar graduated from the University of San Diego School of Law.  Mr. Thakkar is an active m
